My wife, Danuta, and I hosted a coffee recently for leaders of non-profit groups that work to improve opportunities for women in business and government. |
I recently had the pleasure of meeting with leaders of non-governmental organizations who are trying to raise awareness of domestic violence. It was a unique opportunity for me to hear directly from people who work on this vital issue everyday. Empowering women begins with ensuring the basic dignity and safety of women. Women's rights are a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy because we believe that no country can succeed when half of its citizens are left out of the decision-making process.
The U.S. Embassy will continue to support initiatives directed to solving the problem of domestic violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We must have zero tolerance for all kinds of violence.
